Creative Childcare Solutions for
WAHMs
Chances are you became a work at home Mom so that you
could spend more time with your children. As you most
likely found out though, there are times that you’ll need
to visit a client without the kids in two and you’ll need
to arrange for childcare to do so.
This is especially true if you’re in the Network
marketing or MLM business, you most likely give home
parties which are typically held at other people’s
homes. The most obvious solution to a problem like
this would be to schedule a party when your spouse or
significant other could take care of the children.
However, if your partner has an odd work schedule or if
you’re a single Mom, this is often easier said than
done. If you run into situations like these with your
home business, here are some creative solutions you might
consider…
Hire a local high school
student to come to the party with you and be the
“party nanny”. Be sure you check with the one
hosting the party first to be sure this is all right
with them. Most likely she’ll love the idea (and
may even have children of her own who need a
distraction). Plus, as an added benefit, you
could propose the idea of having all of the parents
who are coming to bring their children as well because
you will have a “sitter” available. This could
alleviate a lot of “I don’t have a sitter for my
child” excuses and thus bring more guests (and bigger
profits) to your party!
Does your place of worship
offer a “Moms Day Out” program? Oftentimes you
can simply drop your children off for a few hours a
day one or two days a week.
If you find you simply need
some “quiet time” to get some work done you can hire a
teenager from the neighborhood to come over and play
with the kids. You’ll be able to have
uninterrupted work time but yet still be in the
vicinity in the event something comes up.
If you have to attend regular
meetings outside of your home, see if your friends or
any family members could help out by watching the kids
and offer your product or service in exchange for
their time. They may just jump at that kind of
offer!
And above all, don’t feel guilty if you need to put your
children in daycare part-time. Yes, you might have
had every intention of working at home in order to spend
time with your children, but there may be those times when
your business needs your total focus. By using the
time that they’re in daycare part-time, you can focus on
your business 100% of that time and then give your children
100% of the rest of the day.
